In order to reduce the risk of the cross-border transmission of COVID-19, starting from 23 February 2021, the requirement for traveling to China by air will be updated as the following:
1. Passengers going to China via direct flights must take nucleic acid and IgM anti-body tests within 2 days before boarding, and apply for green health codes with the “HS” mark or green health declaration codes with the “HDC” mark (hereinafter referred to as the “green codes”) at Chinese Embassy in Kenya via https://hrhk.cs.mfa.gov.cn/H5/. The Chinese Embassy in Kenya will not issue green codes to passengers departing from Kenya to China via a third country.
2. Passengers going to China via connecting flights must apply at the Chinese Embassies/Consulates in both departing country and Kenya for green codes. The Chinese Embassy in Kenya will not issue green codes to transiting passengers without green code issued by departing country.
When applying for the green codes at Chinese Embassy in Kenya, all transiting passengers should provide two separate negative nucleic acid test results and two separate negative IgM antibody test results as detailed below:
l The two nucleic acid tests must be conducted respectively by two institutions among the 6 institutions designated by the Chinese Embassy in Kenya.
l The two IgM antibody tests must be conducted respectively by two legitimate and qualified medical institutions regulated by Kenyan Ministry of Health.
l All four tests must have the specimen collected and tested within 2 days before boarding China-bound flights. When applying for the green code, please use the date when the earliest specimen is collected as the date of collection.
